Allen Ray Faber, 63, of Sioux City died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. James Pointer of Sioux City Baptist Church officiating. The body will be cremated. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.

Allen was born April 16, 1942, at Boyden, Iowa, to Francis and Gertrude (Vander Plaats) Faber. He grew up and attended school in Rock Rapids, Iowa.

He married Cheryl Rae Coy on March 15, 1960, at Rock Rapids. The couple remained there until 1964, when they moved to Los Angeles for a number of years before moving to Sioux City in 1971. Allen was a self-employed carpenter.

He was a member of Sioux City Baptist Church. Allen's hobbies included a Sioux City bowling league, Floyd Golf Course men's league, reading and socializing with friends.

Survivors include two sons, Michael A. Faber and his special friend, La Nae, and Rick R. Faber, all of Sioux City; grandchildren, Bryan L. Faber and Jennifer Faber, both of Texas, Christopher M. Faber of Sioux City, Kathleen Faber of Wichita, Kan., Jeremy Faber, Serena Faber and Paula and Troy Hunt, all of Sioux City, Timothy and Misty Iverson of Ft. Polk, La., Lanie Kunkel and Jordann Kunkel, both of Sioux City; three brothers, Gordon and Jan Faber of Albuquerque, N.M., Francis and Lois Faber of La Quinta, Calif., and Galen and Barbara Faber of Granada Hills, Calif; three sisters, Hester Faber of Palmdale, Calif., Marilyn Wetstein of Castaic, Calif., and Marjorie Golonka of Saint George, Utah; and two great-grandchildren.
