Areline Kaiser, 82, of Yankton, S.D., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2005 at a care center in Yankton.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel with the Rev. Dan Doran of First Evangelical Free Church officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Mrs. Kaiser was born Oct. 29, 1922, in Winton, S.D., the daughter of Harry and Jessie (Mucky) Lukhart. She moved to Sioux City at the age of 20. It was in Sioux City that she met and married Chester Kaiser on July 11, 1945. He died Dec. 5, 2003 in Yankton.

After completing Chester's military service, the couple lived in California for one year prior to moving to Sioux City in 1947 where they resided until 2003 when they moved to a nursing home in Yankton.

Areline had a great love for children and animals. She loved the outdoors, gardening, flowers and playing cards.

Survivors include a daughter Colleen Kowalke of Omaha, Neb.; a son Bill and his wife Geri Kaiser of Chamberlain, S.D.: nine grandchildren, Nicol Woody, Mike Kowalke, Ryan Kowalke, B.J. Kaiser, Jesse Kaiser, Eric Kaiser, David King, Deanna Scalzo and Brandi Turner; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister Grace Steinbach of Yankton and a sister-in-law Goldie Kaiser of Oakview, Calif.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons Ronald and Norman Kaiser, two sisters Matilda Stubbs and Irene Jordon and two brothers Wilbur and Lawrence Lukhart.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Kaiser, B.J. Kaiser, Mike Kowalke, Ryan Kowalke, Eric Kaiser and David King.
