SERGEANT BLUFF -- Marjorie LaBahn, 86, of Hinton, passed away Sunday at Embassy Rehab & Care Center in Sergeant Bluff.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. A prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Leo Kostizen officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.

Marjorie was born Jan. 18, 1919, in Wabaux, Mont., to George and Faye (Ruthruff) Mayhew. The family moved to the Sioux City area when Marjorie was 7. She grew up and attended Sioux City schools. Marjorie enjoyed dancing and was a dance instructor for Arthur Murray dance studios. She met her husband, Roy, at a dance. The couple married at Marjorie's parents' house on Jan. 11, 1940. They farmed west of Hinton, Iowa, their entire lives, where Marjorie raised and sold capons. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and playing cards. She belonged to several card clubs. Marjorie was also a girl's 4-H leader for a short time. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sioux City.

Survivors include her son, Bill LaBahn and wife Sue of Hinton; daughters, Barb Robinson and husband Fred of Hinton, and Cheryl Engle and husband Paul of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Roy, on May 14, 2001; parents, George and Faye; sister, Ruth Freidel; brothers, Edgar Mayhew and Charles Mayhew.

Casket bearers will be Michael Robinson, William LaBahn, Paul Engle, Andrew Engle, Richard Vander Kooi and Brandon Robinson.
