Jean A. Sitzmann, 93, of Sioux City, formerly of Le Mars, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at Neptune, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Jean was born May 11, 1924, in rural Hinton, Iowa, the daughter of Arnold and Olive (Strub) Sitzmann. Jean graduated from St. Joseph High School in Le Mars.

She spent her life working in the medical field as a doctor’s secretary and then as a medical transcriptionist at Mercy Medical Center. Jean spent the last years of her life as a dedicated caregiver to her family.

Jean had been a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars before moving to Sioux City four years ago.

Survivors include her sisters and brother, Lois Hardy of Sioux City, Joyce Ryan of Birmingham, Mich., the Rev. Richard Sitzmann of Sioux City, and Connie Christiansen and her husband, John of Dallas, Texas. Jean is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Don, Earl and Jim Sitzmann.
