Beverly L. (Hubregtse) McAllister, 90, of Sioux City, died on May 2, 2018, at a local hospital.

A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, 1801 Morningside Ave., with the Rev. B. J. Van Kalsbeek of Sunnybrook Community Church officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.christysmith.com.

Beverly was born on Aug. 25, 1927, on a farm near Springfield, S.D., the daughter of James and Pearl (Noble) Hubregtse. She attended high school in Avon, S.D. for three years and graduated from Leeds High School, in Sioux City, in 1945. She entered Sacred School of Nursing in Yankton, S.D. as a cadet nurse, graduating in 1948.

Beverly married N. Paul McAllister on Oct. 15, 1949. The couple made Sioux City their home. She worked as an RN at St. Luke's Hospital for many years. At the time of her retirement, she was employed at Siouxland Women's Healthcare.

Beverly enjoyed her grandchildren as they were growing up. Her hobbies were scrapbooking, photo albums, reading and also crewel working. After retirement, she and Paul enjoyed traveling, camping and gardening. They spent winters in Arizona and Texas.

Beverly was a member of Sunnybrook Community Church, Sioux City Women's Club and a past member of Iowa Nurses Association and American Nurses Association.

Survivors include a son, Dr. James McAllister and his wife, Lynn of Sioux City; a daughter, Paula Jo Page and her husband, Glenn of Mebane, N.C.; three grandchildren, Cara (Mark) Sweat, Jessica McAllister, and Mark (Megan) McAllister; four great-grandchildren, Garret, Andrew and Lauren Sweat and Connor McAllister; and a sister-in-law, Louise Serbeck and her husband, Steve.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; and a sister, Betty Wiggs.
