Alberto C. "Pancho" Franco, 83, of Sioux City, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018, at a Sioux City hospital.

Per Alberto's wishes, the body has been cremated. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with a luncheon to follow. Visitation with the family will be 2 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Alberto was born on July 19, 1934, in Merino, Colo., the son of Paul and Julia (Calvio) Franco. Alberto grew up in Minatare and Scottsbluff, Neb., and then served in the U.S. Navy.

He worked for Perkins Stationery, Swift & Company, Floyd Valley Packing Co, The Belle of Sioux City Casino and WinnaVegas before working at Sunland Beef in Tolleson, Ariz.

Alberto enjoyed camping and fishing with his grandchildren, sports, especially boxing, country music, old western movies, dancing, joking, laughing and visiting with people. He loved to visit.

Survivors include his wife, Candy Franco of Sioux City; seven children, Douglas Franco of Phoenix, Ariz., Nina Franco (Mac Towner) of Castana, Iowa, Donna Taylor (Eric ) of Phoenix, Jeremiah Franco (Brenda) of Sioux City, Ella Lemus of Seattle, Wash., Alberta Cardenas (Ismael) of Sioux City, and Yvette Bayona of Sioux City; three stepchildren, Frederick, Annette and Chasity; a sister, Victoria Maestas of Las Cruses, N.M.; 33 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

Alberto was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dalbert J. Franco; and six brothers and a sister.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Alberto's name.
