Kevin Michael Heinemann Sr., 46, of Sioux City, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at his residence surrounded by family and loved ones due to complications to paralysis.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kenny Hsu officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present at 6 p.m., and a Celebration of life service to begin at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Kevin was born on July 9, 1971, in Sioux City, to Robert "Bob" and Pamela (Woodward) Heinemann. He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School through the sixth grade, graduated from North High School in Sioux City with the Class of 1989, and completed one year of college at Morningside College, where he pledged Delta Sigma Phi. Kevin lived most of his life in Sioux City, except from 1989 until 1992, when he lived in Galveston, Texas.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and on Dec. 16, 2016, Kevin married the love-of-his-life, Denise Derby.

Kevin was a diehard Nebraska Husker fan, he loved the MLB, fishing and being outdoors. He enjoyed his summers at the family cabin in rural Ponca, Neb., but his favorite times were spent with his family, kids, and grandchildren.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Denise of Sioux City; mother, Pamela Heinemann; children, KJ, Jordann (Pernell) and Alle; grandchildren, Breezie, Arayah, Tulie and Konllee; his siblings, Lisa (Ron), Kurt (Sara), Joe (Jessica) and Jacob; nieces, Kayte, Kyla, Kalyn, Chelsea, Wednesday, Makenzie and Addison; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandparents, Mel and Anna Woodward; and paternal grandparents, Elmer and Irma Heinemann.

Pallbearers will be KJ Heinemann, Paul James, Michael Kritzer, David Vanderlinden Jr., Scott Ristau, Chris Bowder, Joe Bennett, Jake Bennett and Kurt Heinemann.

Memorials may be offered to the St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Kevin’s name.
