Norma A. Craft, 77, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, April 23, 2018, after a seven and one-half-year battle with dementia at her home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Norma was born Sept. 28, 1940, in Custer, S.D., to Weert and Leona P. (Rasmussen) Asche Sheets. She graduated from Hot Springs High School in Hot Springs, S.D., in 1958.

She married Ross C. "Butch" Craft on June 3, 1958, in Hot Springs, S.D. Ross passed away July 23, 1994. With Ross’s occupation as an air traffic controller, the family moved seven times in 14 years, finally setting back in Ross’s hometown, Sioux City in 1972.

Norma was employed with El Fredo's, when they opened for lunch in the 1970s and then working at Westwood Nursing Home as a cook in 1988. She joined Unicorn Daycare as the head cook and bus driver for child transportation until a back surgery forced her into retirement in 2001. Norma worked all her life beginning at age 12, when she set pins at the bowling alley and then, waitressing. After marrying Ross, she was a homemaker until returning to the work force in the 1970s.

She enjoyed many hobbies and interests which included bowling, crossword puzzles, playing cards, Phase 10, board games at family get-togethers, an avid reader, tending to her roses and fall canning.

Norma is survived by her children, Ralph Craft of Boone, Iowa, Deborah (John) Craft-Marks of Greenfield, Wis., Ron (Heidi) Craft of Hawarden, Iowa, and Rose (Rick) Andersen of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Tiffiny Craft of Sioux City, Dan (Shayla) Craft of Baumholder, Germany, Sherril Craft and significant other, Geoff Jeffords of Sioux City, Fawn (Dustin) Schlesselman of Marengo, Iowa, Ronald Ross (Becky) Craft of Rock Hill, S.C., and Geno Andersen and special friend, Brenden Witt of Sioux City; 11 great-grandchildren, Chris, Logan, Atticus, Sawyer, Jenna, Ethan, Trixie, Olivia, Richard, Colton and Gunnar; one sister, Lucille Sturdivant of Centralia, Wash.; two brothers, Joe Sheets of Mc Alestar, Okla., and Glen (Pat) Sheets of Kent, Wash.; brother-in-law, Ralph (Sandra) Craft of Williamsburg, Va.; sisters-in-law, Josie Asche of Borrego Springs, Calif., Joanne Sheets of Hot Springs, S.D., and Linda Craft of Sioux City; along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross; parents; five sisters, Lois Sherrill, Bertha Rohrick, Lola Smith, Viola Phan and Martha Van Antwerp; four brothers, John Asche, Bud, Darrell and Earl Sheets; four brothers-in-laws Richard Sherrill, Reuben Rohrick, Dean Sturdivant and Ronald E. Craft; and two sisters-in-law, Betty and Carol Sheets.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Siouxland for their help and support of Norma during this difficult time.
