Letha M. Ronfeldt, 95, of Sioux City, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018, at Pioneer Valley Living and Rehab in Sergeant Bluff.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Southern Hills Baptist Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Bob Dillman officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation with the family present will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City.

Letha was born on Dec. 20, 1922, in Oto, Iowa, the daughter of Irving and Margaret (Hamilton) Wise. She graduated from Oto High School, earned her teaching certificate from Normal School Teachers College in Correctionville, Iowa, and taught in rural schools. Letha married James Mason Ronfeldt in 1945 at Climbing Hill, Iowa. They were blessed with three children and farmed in rural Oto and Moville, Iowa, before moving to Sioux City in 1958. Letha worked at raising her family and babysitting. James passed away on March 14, 2015.

She was a member of Southern Baptist Church in Sioux City, and enjoyed her church and reading her Bible. She also enjoyed vegetable gardening, feeding her grandchildren and making quilts.

Survivors include her children, Connie Bean of Hubbard, Neb., and Jim (Jayne) Ronfeldt of Hornick, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Marcia Ronfeldt of Smithland, Iowa; grandchildren, Debra Schwegler, Angela Riley, Billy Bean, Jennifer (Brian) Benjamin, Kimberly (Matt) Scheer, Justin (Stacie Jo) Ronfeldt, Joshua Ronfeldt, Kristine (Gregg) Lamoreux and Jacob Ronfeldt; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Pat Wise, Irving Wise Jr. and Dwayne (Ilene) Wise; brother-in-law, Norman Jensen; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Irving and Margaret Wise; her husband, James Ronfeldt; a son, Daniel Ronfeldt; son-in-law, Bill Bean; grandchildren, Edward Philip Schwegler, Mindy Ronfeldt, and Jaimee Ronfeldt; great-grandchildren, Christian Benjamin and Eion Riley; brothers, Floyd, Cecil and Tom Wise; sisters, Marvena Erwin, Genevieve Ferguson and Bernice Jensen; brother-in-law, Ollie Erwin; and sisters-in-law, Ruth, Ellen and Dorothy Wise.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Hospice of Siouxland, Home Instead Senior Care and Pioneer Valley Living and Rehab.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Southern Hills Baptist Church and Hospice of Siouxland.
