Riley C. Grell, 20, of Moville, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church in Moville, with the Monsignor R. Mark Duchaine officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with a scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home in Moville. Riley Christian Grell was born on Feb. 25, 1998, to Abby and Jeff Grell, in Sioux City. A lifelong resident of Moville, Riley graduated from Woodbury Central High School in 2016. Riley was employed for the past year at the Singing Hills Auto Spa in Sioux City.

Riley had a great love of animals, fishing, skateboarding, hunting and video games. He was interested in world affairs and right wing politics. He had an infectious smile and ended every conversation with, "I love you." Riley was a young man with contagious laughter, a grand knowledge of oddities and the softest heart towards animals and so much more.

Riley is survived by his parents, Jeff and Tracie Grell of Sergeant Bluff, and Abby Whittecar of Sioux City; sister, Jordan and husband, Brandon Reinking of Clearwater, Minn.; brother, Jeffrey and wife, Jamie Grell of Moville; sister, Jacy Grell of Ames, Iowa; stepbrother, Tyler Kollbaum of Turin, Iowa; stepsister, Taylor Kollbaum of Moville; grandparents, Butch and Charlene Grell of Moville, Les and Chari White of Seattle, Wash., and Lori Whittecar; aunts and uncles, Tim and Mindy Grell of Moville, Kevin and Stacey Petersen of Moville, Jason and Kayo Whittecar of Seattle, Amanda Whittecar of Oberg, Neb., Nic and Lindsey Whittecar of Phoenix, Ariz., and Daniel and Minda Kincaid of Kingsley, Iowa; and also many cousins who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dennis Whittecar; great-grandparents, Clarence and Margaret Mayer, Spike and Esther Whittecar, Gilbert and Ruby Uhl, and Arnold and Molly Grell; and Micho, his beloved chocolate lab.
