Marvin H. Winter, 91, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at his residence.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Morningside Lutheran Church. The Rev. Tom LoVan will officiate. Private family burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Marvin was born on June 4, 1926, in Parkston, S.D., the son of Edward and Emma (Haag) Winter. Marvin grew up on the family farm in Parkston and attended country school. He farmed with his father until being activated into the U.S. Army. He served in the Army from 1949 to 1951. After the service, Marvin moved to Rock Rapids, Iowa, where he met his future wife.

On Sept. 20, 1958, Marvin married Dorothy Dvorak in Rock Rapids. Marvin was a truck driver for Farm Service, Sun Oil Company and various other businesses.

He was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher. Marvin enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping, gardening and square dancing.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Sioux City; his children, Sandy Winter and Lori Winter, both of Sioux City, Mark Winter and his wife, Carol of Winterset, Iowa, and Mike Winter and his wife, Jonay of Stuart, Iowa; five grandchildren, Nate Winter (Ashley), Ben Winter, Dylan Winter, Dallas Winter and Katy Winter; one great-grandson, Caleb Winter; and many nieces and nephews.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gerhardt; and three sisters, Olga, Edna and Viola.
