Agnes E. Yanney, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Orthodox Church. The Rev. Lucas Rice will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Orthodox Cemetery, Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a Trisagion service at 7 p.m., all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Agnes was born on Aug. 19, 1920, in Sioux City, the daughter of Oscar and Bessie Risk. Agnes grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School. With the exception of a short time living in Los Angeles and then in Hobbs, N.M., upon her marriage, she spent her life in Sioux City.

On April 4, 1943, Agnes married the love of her life, Mose Yanney. He passed away on Dec. 19, 2004. Upon his discharge from the U.S. Air Force, they continued to live in Sioux City.

She became very active in community affairs. While their daughter was in school she was very active in P.T.A. serving as president at Irving School and vice president of the city P.T.A. She was a member of Chapter MK of the P.E.O., Emerson Study Club, St. Luke's Auxiliary, Sioux City Symphony Guild, Art Center Guild and Orpheum Theater Guild. She was involved for two years in the starting of the Children's Miracle Network in Sioux City serving as chairperson of the Community Awareness Committee. She was a long time member of the St. Thomas Orthodox Church and a member of the Women's Club.

Agnes enjoyed traveling, playing bridge and spending time with her husband and daughter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Thomas Orthodox Church Cemetery Endowment Fund or the Wildlife Lodge & Clinic, 2800 Summit St
