William Revelle "Bill" Tilton, 77, of Sioux City, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018, at his residence after a short battle with cancer.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Bill was born in Sioux City, on June 15, 1940, the son of Niel and Mercedes (Jacoby) Tilton. He attended Sioux City Community Schools and graduated from Central High School with the class of 1958.

He was a member of the 185th Air National Guard for over 20 years, and was activated with unit to serve during the Vietnam War from 1969 until 1969. Bill worked for Northwestern Bell in Sioux City for 40 years.

He was president of the Sooland Amateur Radio Association and president of the Marine Emergency Response Team. He also volunteered with the Siouxland Chapter of the American Red Cross. He enjoyed being a ham radio operator.

He is survived by his sister, Carol Trongaard of Euless, Texas; his niece, Kim Dahl of Minnesota; and four nephews, Jerry, Jeff, Mike and Mark and Trongaard, all of Texas. He is also survived by many cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Bill’s name be made to Sooland Amateur Radio Association or the Marine Emergency Response Team.
