Charles F. "Chuck" Meyer, 90, of McCook Lake, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018.

Services will be 12:30 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sioux City. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Chuck was born on the family farm in Thurston, Neb., to Clarence and Anna (Johnson) Meyer, on Jan. 7, 1928. He attended country schools and Emerson High School in Emerson, Neb. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy. After his honorable discharge, he started flying, and continued in that career his entire life. He accumulated many hours of flying time.

In 1950, Chuck married Elaine Coan at Sacred Heart Church in Emerson. They then moved to Yankton, S.D., where Chuck worked for the Yankton Airport. He also taught flying and flew charter flights out of Graham Flying Service for many years. He finished his career flying for Metz Baking Company.

Chuck loved to golf, fly airplanes, and fix things. He loved his home in McCook Lake and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Elaine Meyer of McCook Lake; three sons, Greg (Debby) Meyer, and Jeff (Cathy) Meyer, both of McCook Lake, and Jon (Kathy) Meyer of Omaha; one daughter, Jan (Gary) March of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gordon and Eugene Meyer; and one grandson, Justin Meyer.
