Wilbur D. Tuttle, 89, of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.

Services will be noon Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, 3220 Stone Park Blvd. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be directed to meyerbroschapels.com.

Wilbur "Bill" Tuttle was born on Oct. 24, 1928, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Rosie (Dicus) Cadwell. He was one of seven children. As a young man, Bill attended Sioux City schools and joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. He was deployed to Pearl Harbor and was an engineer in inter-communications. He spent the majority of his service years in the South Pacific, including Subic Bay and Kwajalein and served from Nov. 10, 1945 to Jan. 10, 1948.

Upon returning to Sioux City, he fell in love with the girl next door, Myrna Polly. They were married on Nov. 24, 1951. Of their union, four daughters were born. Bill was a Woodbury County deputy sheriff and spent many years working in sales. In 2017, Bill and Myrna celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Bill loved to be outdoors. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, camping, and gardening. He was a fantastic cook and the family loved the special meals he prepared. His best times were spent with family and the grandchildren. He was a member of Westlawn Presbyterian Church.

Bill is survived by his wife, Myrna (Polly) Tuttle of Sioux City; brother, Roger (Janet) Cadwell of Sioux City; three daughters, Vickie (Mark) Anderson of Littleton, Colo., Kathie (Timm) Banks of Westfield, Iowa, and Terrie (Tom) West of Sioux City; son-in-law, Jerry Pospeshil of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren, Jade (Shelly) Pospeshil, Jeret Pospeshil, Jewell (Todd) Young, Nikki Jones, Danni Giardino, James Knight, Dayton McNeil, Dayna (Vic) Libscomb, Derek McNeil, Abbie (Kevin) Hubert, and Shelbie West; 14 great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Judie Pospeshil of Sioux City; one sister, Barbara Baxter of Sioux City; and four brothers, Rolla Cadwell, Floyd Cadwell Jr., Richard Cadwell, and Gerald Cadwell.

The family would like to thank the staff at Holy Spirit for their wonderful care.
