JoAnn E. Meyer, 84, of Sioux City, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church. The Very Rev. Brent Lingle will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

JoAnn was born on Sept. 24, 1933, in Creighton, Neb., the daughter of Andrew and Mary (Neyens) Vogt. JoAnn grew up in Creighton and graduated from St. Ludger's High School in 1950. She attended Wayne State Teacher's College and taught rural school in the Creighton area for four and one half years.

On June 14, 1954, JoAnn married Charles B. Meyer in Creighton. The family moved to Sioux City in 1964 and JoAnn helped her husband, Chuck, in the funeral business for many years.

JoAnn was a longtime member of Cathedral of the Epiphany and the Confraternity. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to spend time with her family. JoAnn was also an accomplished pianist and enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include her husband, Chuck of Sioux City; three children, Karen Matthey (Bruce) of Dakota Dunes, S.D., Dale Meyer (Lori) of Sioux City, and Joan Reynders (Curt) of Chanhassen, Minn.; five grandchildren, Dr. Neil Matthey (Jenna), Cara Anderson (Craig), Kaitlynn Craig (Jameson), Shayli Scaletta (Paul), and Alexa Reynders; six great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Lyle Pospisil of Creighton; and several nieces and nephews.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lucille and Betty Pospisil; and a niece, Rita.

Memorials may be directed to Cathedral of the Epiphany, Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools or Hospice of Siouxland.
