Geraldine Mae Drea Volk Meylor, the daughter of Matthew and Florence (Singleman) Drea, was born on August 27, 1935, in Battle Creek, IA. She graduated from Oto High School with the class of 1953 and during her high school career enjoyed cheerleading and playing basketball. After high school, Geraldine went on to further her education at Wayne State College and obtained her Medical Technician degree in Minneapolis.

On July 6, 1957, Geraldine married Kenneth Volk in a little white church in Oto, IA. The couple lived in Minneapolis, MN and Reedsburg, WI before returning to Oto, IA, where the couple began farming. They raised their three children on the farm, which would be her home base throughout her life. Geraldine would return to the farm from her travel exploits from Arizona, Florida and international trips to Ireland, the origin of her Irish roots.

Geraldine was known as a dedicated grandmother and cheerleader for all of her grandchildren; as well as for her loyalty and support to her lifelong friends. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards and sharing many laughs. A devoted Catholic, she volunteered her time helping with the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of America.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Volk; parents Matthew and Florence Drea; and brother Michael Drea. She is survived by her sons Tony (Amy) Volk and Todd (Lisa) Volk; daughter Karla (Brenda Hill) Volk; grandchildren Brianna, Tanner, Trevor, Claire, Daniel and Elsie; sister Janice West; honorary great grandchild Skyler Hill; and extended family and friends.
