Falling Tank Kills Worker

Kenneth A. Carlson, Former Resident Here, Dies in Arizona

Injuries suffered when a tank fell on him while engaged in air base construction work at Douglas, Arizona, proved fatal to Kenneth A. Carlson, 37, formerly of Sioux City.

The accident occurred last Monday when a passing train broke the derrick cable on which the tank was suspended, causing the tank to fall on Carlson. He had been at Douglas about a day when injured. He went there October 31, having worked for the contractors since October 3 at Carlsbad, N. M.

Until taking up air base construction work, Carlson lived all his life in Sioux City, where he was born July 23, 1905. He was employed by the Sioux City Gas and Electric Company from 1927 until shortly before going to New Mexico.

Surviving are his widow, Mary: two sons, Gayle and Thomas and his mother, Mrs. J.D. Colman, all of Sioux City; two brothers, Leon of Waterloo and Paul, in the army at Middleton, Texas and two grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Carlson of Sioux City.

The body is being sent to the Rutledge Funeral Home.
