Former Bank Head Was County Resident Many Years
Ralph J. McElrath, 64, extensive buyer and feeder of livestock, died Tuesday night at his home at Moville following a lingering illness.
Mr. McElrath had lived in Woodbury County since early childhood, coming here with his parents from Morrison, Illinois, where he was born January 10, 1879.
He was past president of Moville and Lawton banks, past present of the Woodbury County farm bureau, served as director of the Sioux City Interstate Fair association and through his efforts the Moville fair was established. He was a member of Trial lodge 532, A.F. and A.M. and the Eastern Star of Moville.
Surviving are the widow, Lyda, a daughter, Mrs. Maxine Wiley of Vancouver, Washington, a grandchild, three brothers, Fred, Roy and William all of Moville; six sisters, Mrs. Edith Hague of Los Angeles, California, Miss Alice McElrath of Sioux City and Mrs. Eva Southwick, Mrs. Minnie Payne, Mrs. Helen Logan and Mrs. Maude Kusian, all of Moville
The body is at the McElrath home. The West-Heaton Funeral Home has charge of funeral arrangements.
