Hilda A. Stowe, 89, of Sioux City passed away suddenly Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:45 a.m. Monday at Holy Spirit Chapel, Holy Spirit Retirement Home, with the Rev. Dennis Meinen of Holy Spirit Chapel and the Rev. Michael Erpelding of St. Boniface Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Hilda A. Stowe was born June 19, 1915, at Watkins, Minn., the daughter of Matthew and Catherine (Wirtzfield) Serger. Hilda was a Sioux City resident for the majority of her adult life.

She married Sidney F. Stowe Sr. on Nov. 5, 1934, in Jefferson, S.D. Sidney preceded Hilda in death on April 19, 1987, in Sioux City. Hilda worked at American Produce for several years. Later, she was employed with Dick's Diner, retiring from there in 1973.

She was an active, long-time member of St. Boniface Catholic Church as well as the Busy Bees.

Survivors include 10 children, Thresia Molden of Piru, Calif., Sidney Jr. Stowe and his wife, Barbara, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Eugene Stowe and his special friend, Tina Boetger, of Sioux City, LeeAnder Stowe and his wife, Alice, of Miles City, Mont., Angeline LaCroix of Ankeny, Iowa, Ronnie Stowe Sr. and his wife, Lizbeth, of Sioux City, Victor Stowe of Sioux City, Jacqueline Hunting and her husband, Kenneth, of Topeka, Kan., DeWayne Stowe and his wife, Sally, of Sergeant Bluff and Carol Williams and her husband, Brad, of Sioux City; a sister, Rosella Hawke of Des Moines, Iowa; 28 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, LeRoy Stowe; two daughters, Elizabeth Stowe and Dorothy Stowe; two grandchildren, Shawn Stowe and Chad Williams; two sons-in-law, Francis LaCroix and Harry "Bud" Molden; and several brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be her sons, Sidney F. Stowe Jr., Eugene J. Stowe, LeeAnder J. Stowe, Ronnie L. Stowe Sr., Victor A. Stowe and DeWayne M. Stowe.
