Dorothy H. Allyn, 97, of Sioux City died Sunday, January 16, 2000 at her daughter’s residence in Sioux City following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Loving Faith Fellowship Church, with the Rev. Patrick Burgess officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Terry Graham officiating, at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Mrs. Allyn was born November 10, 1902 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of George and Martha (Stoops) Herman.

She had lived with her family in South Dakota, where she attended public schools.

She married Elbert Allyn on December 27, 1924 in Kennebec, S.D. She had lived in South Dakota, Missouri and Colorado. He died December 17, 1965, in Pueblo, Colo.

She moved to Sioux City in 1969.

She was employed with Sioux City Battery, Robert’s Dairy and Glasers Provisions.

She was a member of Loving Faith Fellowship Church and did missionary work through many local churches.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Betty and Jim Reese and Deloris and Floyd Johnson, all of Sioux City and Lucille and Lester Bewley of Bemidji, Minnesota; a son and his wife, William and Velma of Pueblo, Colorado, 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Lloyd, Norman and Robert; four brothers and a sister.

Pallbearers will be Ken Johnson, Dave Bewley, Don Reese, Brad Dillard, Rick Hanslip and Steve Miller.
