Gerald M. Christianson, 72, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, in Las Vegas after a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Rev. Allan Reicks officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with a vigil service at 7 p.m.

Gerald was born May 26, 1932, in Hospers, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Eleanora Christianson. His family moved to Sioux City when he was a child. He graduated from East High School.

He married Rosemary Jensen on June 19, 1954, in Sioux City.

He lived in Minneapolis, Minn., from 1960 to 1986 and retired from the Bloomington (Minn.) Police Department. He had lived in Las Vegas for the past 18 years.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church while living in Sioux City.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary of Las Vegas; two sons, Craig Christianson and his wife, Pam, of Minneapolis and Curt Christianson of Minneapolis; a daughter, Connie Christianson of Minneapolis; two brothers and their wives, Edward and Margaret Christianson of Niles, Ill., and Ambrose and Joann Christianson of Minneapolis; and three sisters, Mathilda Reichle of Princeton, Minn., Dolores Nye and her husband, Paul, of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Betty Fortin and her husband, Gilbert, of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Boyd; and two brothers, John and Norbert Christianson.
