SLOAN, Iowa -- La Dessa Copple, 97, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, formerly of Sloan, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at Fort Dodge Villa Care Center.

Services will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Gunderson Funeral Chapel in Fort Dodge, with Dr. Marcia Rich, CLP, officiating. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral chapel.

La Dessa Noble Copple, the daughter of David and Harriet (Smith) Noble, was born Oct. 10, 1907, in Paton, Iowa. She moved with her parents to Sloan at a very early age. She graduated from high school in Sloan and later attended and graduated from the National Business School in Sioux City.

She was employed with Knapp-Brown Company until her marriage to Henry E. Copple in 1928. After their marriage, they farmed in Sloan until 1949, when they purchased a farm in Schaller, Iowa. They lived in the Schaller area until retiring in 1960 and moved to Fort Dodge. Her husband died in 1967. She was employed for 10 years in the office at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Dodge until it closed.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Olive Shrine and Order of the Eastern star Athena Chapter in Sloan, where she was a past Grand Officer. She also belonged to the Up-To-Date Club, the Shrine Sewing Unit and the Fort Dodge Women Garden Club.

She is survived by distant cousins.
