ANTHON, Iowa -- Leo J. Weathers, 80, formerly of Anthon passed away Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at Life Care Center in Elkhorn, Neb.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mary Our Queen Catholic Church in Omaha. There will be a vigil service at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Cemetery, Anthon. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Heafey-Heafey-Hoffman-Dworak-Cutler Funeral Home in Omaha.

Mr. Weathers was born June 17, 1924, in Anthon, where he lived on the family farm until 1954, when he went to Conception Abbey in Conception, Mo., to become a Benedictine brother. He learned mechanical and electrical trades before moving to Mount Michael Abbey in Elkhorn in June 1959. He farmed, drove the school bus and did maintenance work. In 1969, he moved to California to work for Contra Costa County Housing Authority. In 1983, he returned to Omaha to work as a maintenance man.

He is survived by a brother and his wife, Frank and Delores Weathers of Omaha; a sister and her husband, Mary and Walter Huber of Fremont, Neb.; five nieces; five nephews; 11 grandnieces; and 18 grandnephews.

Memorials may be directed to Mary Our Queen Catholic Church, 3405 S. 118th St., Omaha, NE.
