Helen A. Hardy, 70, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church, where the Rev. Marvin Mueller officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Helen was born Oct. 5, 1934, in Sioux City, the daughter of Ernest and Anna (Rossen) Hall. She attended Sioux City schools. She later attended Western Iowa Tech Community College, where she received an associates degree.

On May 15, 1954, she was united in marriage to Richard Hardy. They lived in Sioux City, where they raised their four daughters. Later, she worked as a bookkeeper and office manager. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May 2004.

He was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who always put her family first. She was baptized and confirmed at Riverside Lutheran Church. Since her marriage, she had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband, Richard of Sioux City; four daughters and their families, Julie and Al Stinson and their daughter, Lindsey of Loveland, Colo., Jana and John Sullivan and their children, Chris and Emily of Sioux City, Joanne "Jodi" and Evan Johnson and their children, Sam, Max and Jae of Sioux City and Jayne and Phred Linn and their children, Anna, Sara, Ben, Zoe and Isaac of Correctionville, Iowa; two sisters, Blanche Esterlin of Columbus, Ohio, and Pat and her husband, Bill Redmond of Eureka, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Joanne and her husband, George Taylor of Sioux City and Florence (Hall) Mohl of Elk Point, S.D.; a brother-in-law, Bruce Hardy of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; and two brothers.

Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
