Melvin C. McLarty, 61, of Sioux Falls, S.D. and a former resident of Sioux City, died Thursday in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the Heaton-Rutledge- Gulsrud Funeral Home. The Rev. Anthony Blankers, retired pastor of the United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a prayer service at 7 o’clock this evening in the funeral Home.

Mr. McLarty was born October 28, 1919 at Delmont, S.D. He was an Army veteran who had served in World war II, Korea and Vietnam. Following his retirement from the service, he was employed by North American Manufacturing Co. and ASCO Contracting Co. of Sioux Falls.

Survivors include three brothers, Merlin C. and William J., both of Sioux City, and Claude of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; a son, Gary, of Lake View Terrace, California; a daughter, Bernadine Hill of Big Bear Lake, California and four grandchildren.

A memorial has been established in Mr. McLarty’s name.
