Ira J. Maynard, 100, of Sioux City died Monday, January 17, 2000 at Harvest Morningside Nursing Home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Larkin Northside Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul-Louis Arts, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Yankton, South Dakota. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Maynard was born May 4, 1899, in Richland, South Dakota, the son of Chancey and Ada (Seward) Maynard. He was raised in Richland.

He married Margaret Doyle in South Dakota. She died January 10, 1969 in Sioux City. He married Maebelle D. Clark on May 3, 1980, in Sioux City. She died November 30, 1999, in Sioux City.

He did some farming while living in South Dakota. While living in Sioux City, he was employed as a furniture and rug cleaner with Davenport Cleaners for more than 30 years. He retired in 1987.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, Robert of Sioux City; a step-son and his wife, Steven and Joann Clark of Fort Worth, Texas; two step-daughters and their husbands, Judy and Wayne Somers of Sioux City and Lylette and Gary Karley of Mission, Kansas, 10 grandchildren and a granddaughter who was his caregiver, Becky Bucy and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Claude, Sidney and Dewey; and two sisters, Chloe Nearman and Loie Beach.

Pallbearers will be Robert Maynard, William Fischer, Wayne and Kenny Beach, Robert Klundt, Ray Norton, Kit Bucy and Wayne Somers.
