Velma Irene Turgeon, 74, of Sioux City died Monday, January 3, 2000 at her residence after a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tuegeon was born January 11, 1925 in Sioux City, the daughter of Guy F. and Blanche M. (Whitmore) McVay.

She married Theos L. “Red” Turgeon on April 8, 1957, in Luverne, Minnesota. She was a home-maker. He died November 12, 1991, in Sioux City.

Survivors include two daughters, Naomi Sanders and Linda and her husband, Warren Moore, all of Sioux City; three brothers and their wives, Richard and Margie McVay of Minneapolis, Paul and Vicky McVay of Olathe, Kansas, and John and Nancy McVay of Omaha; three sisters, Vera Carpenter of Stockton, California, Naomi and her husband, Chuck Lomax of Florida and Charlotte and her husband, Ervin Bremmer of Council Bluffs, Iowa; six grandsons, Kevin Berg, Joel and Tim Sanders and Jason, Darren and Brian Thorp, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Raymond McVay.
