William Harrison Carr, 73, of Hornick, Iowa, passed away Saturday, December 23, 1978 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa.

He was born on June 3, 1905, the son of Enos and Sarah Lichtenberger Carr, at Ida Grove, Iowa. On August 10, 1927, he was united in marriage to Jennie Madsen at Sioux City, Iowa. Jennie passed away July 28, 1975. On October 22, 1976, he was married to Jessie Sorenson at Dakota City, Nebraska. He was a farmer in the Hornick area for many years and was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jessie, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Matilda) Beedle, Onwa, Iowa and Mrs. Josephine Mack, Oto, iowa; one step-daughter, Mrs. Robert (Lois) Morris, Jr., Hornick; five step-grandchildren; six step-great- grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, three brothers, one son and his first wife.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 26, 1978 at the United Methodist Church, Hornick, Iowa, with the Rev. Dale Church officiating.. The organist was Mrs. Orval Cox and the duet, Gerald Beckstrom and George Till, sang, “How Great Thou Art” and “Just A Closer Walk With Thee.”

Casketbearers were Ray Shupe, Robert Morris, Alvin Sulsberger, Orval Cox, Eldred Lloyd and Danny Ronfeldt.

Interment was in the Smithland Cemetery, Smithland, Iowa.
