Keith D. Mellies, 51, of Moville, passed away Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at his residence.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception Church in Moville with the Monsignor R. Mark Duchaine officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Wink-Sparks Post 303 of Moville. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home in Moville.

Keith D. Mellies was born on July 26, 1966, to Helen (Schwebach St. Peter) and Robert Mellies in Iowa City, Iowa. He was a graduate of Woodbury Central High School in 1985. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he stood guard of Marine One for Ronald Reagan from 1986 to 1987.

Keith lived and worked in Sioux City and Moville his entire lifetime. He worked at AGP, Soo Tractor, Besser Company, all in Sioux City as well as at J & J Motor and the Epling Farm in Moville.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville. He enjoyed reading and always carried his kindle with him, fishing, and shooting weapons. He was always willing to help others and could easily make you smile. Keith will be remembered as a devoted and loyal friend and family member.

Keith is survived by his daughter, Nicole Mellies and wife, Nikki Conley of Grand Fork, N.D.; mother, Helen St. Peter of Moville; siblings, Calvin and wife, Jacquie Mellies of Moville, Glenda and husband, Frank Thompson of Moville, and Corey and wife, Amy Mellies of Ames, Iowa; nephews, Nathan and Lynzie Mellies, Kevin and Paige Thompson, Austin Thompson, Caden Thompson, and Oliver Mellies; nieces, Katlyn Mellies and fiance, Dom Schweder, Lily Mellies, and Claire Mellies; and grandniece, Harley Mellies. He is also survived by 13 aunts and uncles; and numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Theodore and Natalia Schwebach; and uncles, Marvin and David Schwebach.
