Shirley A. Brandt, 80, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at a local hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Private family burial will be in McCook Lake Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Shirley was born on May 3, 1937, in Brookings, S.D., daughter of John and Alma (Witt) Harms. She graduated from Le Mars (Iowa) Central High School.

Shirley married Loren Stinehart in August 1956. To this union three children were born, Julie, Linda, and Tom. Shirley and Loren later divorced. Shirley worked as a bookkeeper for many years in numerous businesses throughout the Siouxland area.

She was a member of Good News Baptist Church. Shirley loved to cook, read, play piano, and had a great love for travel. In addition to traveling to many parts of the world, Shirley also traveled and lived for several years with her daughter, Julie and her husband, Ahmed, while they were posted in Minsk, Belarus, and the Dominican Republic.

Survivors include her children, Julie (Ahmed Mokrani) Stinehart of North Sioux City, and Tom Stinehart of Sioux City; brother, Douglas (Tina) Harms of Cheyenne, Wyo.; grandson, Anthony Balstad of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Linda; sister, Glennes; and brothers, Marlin and Glenn.

Shirley's family would like to thank everyone at Prime Living for their support and caring as well as the doctors and nurses at Mercy Medical Center for their kindness and special care.
