Stella F. Kasotakis, 91, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, Sept. 4, 2017, at Westwood Specialty Care.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 5:30 p.m. Sunday with a Trisagion Service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be offered online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. The family would like to thank Care Initiatives Hospice and Westwood Specialty Care for the care and compassion they gave Stella.

Stella was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Nithavri, Amariou, Rethimnon on the island of Crete in Greece. She was the daughter of Nicholas and Irene (Androulidaki) Fountoulakis.

On Aug. 26, 1945, she married Michael E. Kasotakis in Nithavri. The couple came to the United States in 1969 and settled in Sioux City. Stella worked at IBP for 20 years and retired in 1990. Her husband, Michael, passed away Dec. 8, 2010.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and the Cretan Society.

Stella loved gardening, crocheting and watching her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Survivors include her sons and their wives, Emmanuel and Demitra Kasotakis of Detroit and Nicholas and Leah Kasotakis of Sioux City; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters, Stavroula Lanzourakis and Georgia Reusch both of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Paul Fountoulakis; and sister, Mary Stamoulis.
