Dale G. Hayes Sr., 62, of Lincoln, passed away Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. Monday followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A St., Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the National Federation of the Blind.
Dale was born on Jan. 25, 1955, in Sioux City to Alvin Hayes, Sr. and Josephine (Malbrue) Hayes. He worked for the Services for the Visually Impaired for 15 years and was the lead guitarist and songwriter for his band Garfan.
Dale is survived by his wife, Deb Hayes of Lincoln and his sons, Dale "DJ" Hayes, Jr. of Lincoln and Matthew Hayes of Houston, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Alvin, John and Frank; and four sisters, Geraldine, Ruth, Margaret and Irene.
