George Charles Donnelly, 77, of Elk Point, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elk Point. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with a wake service at 7 p.m, at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Kober Funeral Home in Elk Point. George was born on Feb. 19, 1940, in Elk Point, the son of George and Aldea (Benjamin) Donnelly. He graduated from Elk Point High School with the class of 1959. He married Diane (Kopal) Donnelly on Jan. 7, 1963. He farmed in rural Elk Point and was a lifelong resident.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and a lifelong member of the Elk Point Country Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, bowler, and horse trainer. He especially enjoyed these activities with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Chuck (Lori) Donnelly, and Cory (Jaimie) Donnelly, all of Elk Point; one daughter, Kim (Rick) Rasmussen of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Bucholz of Denver, Colo., Dory (John) Tschantz of Sun City West, Ariz., and Hellen (Richard) Dirks of Akron, Iowa; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lawrence, Jack and Joe Donnelly; one sister, Darlene Maloney; and an infant grandson, Cooper George Donnelly.
