John Allen "Little John" Medina, 57, of Sioux City, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, at a local hospital.

Memorial service will be held with a dinner at 6 p.m. Friday at the Four Directions Community Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

John Allen "Little John" Medina was born on Jan. 18, 1960, in Winnebago, Neb., the son of Ruperto and Olive (LeClaire) Medina. Little John grew up and lived his life in Sioux City.

He enjoyed going to the casino's in North Sioux City, and playing darts, and pool. Little John was the guy you turned to when you need anything, he would always be there for you no matter what. He was a member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe.

Little John is survived by his three sons, Jarvis Fatland of South Dakota, Raymond Torrez of Sioux City, and Joshua Rockwood of Sioux City; two daughters, Sonya Fatland of South Dakota, and Amanda Fatland of Sisseton, S.D.; three brothers, Wayne (Lily) Medina, Dave (Alice) Medina, and Rick Medina, all of Sioux City; three sisters, Marilyn (Jim) Dillon, Violet Crosby, and Angel (John Briggs) Medina, all of Sioux City; several grandchildren; and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters; Patricia (Fred) Mondragon of New Mexico, Juanita (John) Medina, and Linda (Zeferino Ortega) Medina, both of Sioux City.
