Fauniel Paulson, 88, of Oakland, passed away Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland. Burial will be in Bancroft Cemetery, Bancroft, Neb. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland.

Fauniel was born on Nov. 30, 1928, in Wayne, Neb., to William and Elsie (Echtenkamp) Racherbaumer, She was confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne, where her parents had been charter members. The Racherbaumer family often spent winters in Missouri, where Fauniel attended part of the school year. She attended Hahn High School on the campus of Wayne Teachers College and later obtained a license in cosmetology.

Fauniel and Delmar Paulson were married on Jan. 10, 1945 at Grace Lutheran Church. They moved to Oakland in 1959 and Fauniel operated the Clip and Curl Beauty Shop from their home on Davis Street.

The couple were foster parents for many years and recipients of the Nebraska Good Neighbor Award. They were members of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, where Fauniel served as the chairperson for the funeral lunch committee for many years and was a member of Dorcas Society and the Busy Twelve.

Survivors include her children, Larry (Earlene) of Walthill, Neb., Patricia (John) Browning of Bancroft, Jacalyn (Gregg) Moseman of McKinney, Texas, Joel (Lori) Paulson of West Point, Neb., Teresa Faust of Omaha, Janie Paulson of Dallas, Texas, and Michelle (Daron) Joseph of Tulsa, Okla.; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; special foster children, Amy (Jim) Snyder of Joplin, Mo., and Marilyn West of Lanesville, Ind.

She was preceded in death by husband, Delmar in 2015; her parents; brother, Herold Racherbaumer; son, Lee Wayne in 1952; granddaughter, Heidi Browning; and grandson, Matt Moseman.

Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation or Dodge County Humane Society, 787 S. Luther Rd, Fremont, NE 68025.
