Wendell Allen Reynolds, 77, of Sioux City, died Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center in Sioux City.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 703 W. Fifth St., in Sioux City. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a parish vigil service will be at 7 p.m., at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, 2320 Outer Drive, in Sioux City. Wendell was born on Jan. 4, 1940, in Woodbine, Iowa, to Carl and Lesta (Blakely) Reynolds. He grew up in Woodbine and was a graduate of the Woodbine High School class of 1958. While growing up, he worked on his Uncle Dan's farm and drove a cattle truck delivering cattle to various stockyards for his uncle as well. He later went to work for the Illinois Central Railroad.

It was while working for the railroad, he met the love of his life, Kay Hegarty. The couple were married on June 23, 1962 in Sioux City. In 1965, Wendell went to work as a sheet metal worker. He worked for various shops in Sioux City through the Sheet Metal Worker Union Local 3. He was proud to be a 50 year union member.

Wendell was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, and a former member of the Eagles Club and the Boys of 68. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his humor and quick wit.

Surviving are his wife, Kay Reynolds of Sioux City; son, Dan and JoAnn Reynolds of Sioux City; daughter, Colleen Fairley of Sioux City; son, Brian and Cheryl Reynolds of Sioux City; sister, Connie Adams of Omaha; sister-in-law, Arlene Reynolds of Omaha; uncle, Dan and Maxine Clark of Logan, Iowa; six grandchildren, Tiffany and Jeremy Beyer, Brittany Reynolds, Shannon Reynolds, Preston Fairley, Samantha Fairley and Jordan Reynolds; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Gail Lynn Reynolds; his parents; sisters, Carman and Gene Baldwin, and Maureen Reynolds; brothers, Ed and Neidra Reynolds and Ron Reynolds; and brother-in-law, Jack Adams.
