Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Robin, the daughter of L. Douglas and Janice (Olson) Oss, was born on March 13, 1973 in Iowa City, Iowa. Growing up, she had a happy childhood. She was active in Brownies, ballet and gymnastics. She was a swimmer with the Sioux City Mariners swim club for 10 years, and took piano lessons for 10 years.

During junior high at Hoover, she was on the student council and in chorus. In high school at North, she was a football cheerleader, served on student council, participated in track, and was part of the Homecoming Royalty.

In 1995, Robin received her degree in social work from Augustana in Sioux Falls, S.D., and later attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas for post graduate study in social work. After her father's death in 1999, she returned home to Sioux City and worked in several jobs. She was a resident counselor at the Boys and Girls Club, in sales at Miller Brothers Furniture, a hostess at Applebee's, and a social worker at Embassy Suites in Elk Point, S.D., among others.

Her primary career was with Siouxland Mental Health as a social worker for seven years until her health forced her to retire. She worked mostly with troubled children, seeing them both at school and in their homes. She was well liked by both the children and their teachers. Robin loved her work.

Robin's greatest joys were children, spending time with family and friends, and days spent at the family cabin on Lake Shetek. She was a member of First Lutheran Church. She had been active in Junior League, P.E.O. Chapter IL, and Sioux City Go.

Robin is survived by her mother and stepfather, Janice and Jack L. Bristow of Sioux City; one brother, Todd (Nicki) Oss of Sioux City and their son, Nolan; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, L. Douglas Oss, who had been a longtime dermatologist in Sioux City.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to First Lutheran Church or The Shepherd's Gift, www.theshepherdsgift.org which is a charity in support of research for a treatment for Huntington's disease which has so affected this family.
