Shurrell "SK" Savery, 79, of of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, in Fremont, Neb.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes. Interment will be in Jordan Cemetery, rural Monona County, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

SK was born on May 15, 1938, in Omaha, the son of Elmer and Leona (McCall) Savery. He attended Ute, Iowa schools. SK proudly served as a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1962. During his time in the service, he worked as an aircraft missile repairman.

He was united in marriage with Sharon Raasch of Bancroft, Neb. after his discharge and the couple later divorced. He then attended Morningside College receiving his bachelor's degree. He also attended auctioneer school and became an accomplished auctioneer.

He worked Conagra, Golden Sun Feeds, and Westendorf Manufacturing in sales and marketing as well as farming in the Solider and Ute areas. SK retired in 2001. He moved to Sioux City in 2007 and in May of this year, he moved to Fremont to be near his daughter.

SK was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge, The Shriners, the VFW and American Legion. In his younger days, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and sports.

He is survived by his daughters, Shelly Powley (Steve) of Fremont, and Stacy English of Sioux City; his son, Scott (Debra) Savery of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Dustin, Dylan, Danika, Miranda, Logan, Rhea, and Tori; his great-grandchildren, Marley, Bryson, Ryan, and Lucy; and one brother, Norman (Mickey) Savery of Austin Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Nickolas; and his son, Steven.
