Sergeant Bluff

Loren Irving Jorgensen, 64, of Sergeant Bluff, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sergeant Bluff United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Jorgensen officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Loren was born on Sept. 12, 1952, in Sioux City, the son of Dale and Virginia (Knudson) Jorgensen. He grew up in Sergeant Bluff and graduated from Sergeant Bluff High School in 1971. Loren then attended Western Iowa Tech Community College, receiving a mechanic degree.

Loren married Inez Searls on Oct. 25, 1975, in Akron, Iowa. To this union four children were born. Loren worked for Terra Industries Inc. for four and a half years before leaving to farm full-time in 1976.

He enjoyed fishing and grilling, but most of all he loved to spend time with his kids and grandkids. Loren was active with the Helping Hands of Sergeant Bluff and a member of the New Life Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Inez Jorgensen of Sergeant Bluff; children, Nick and wife, Mara Jorgensen of Sergeant Bluff, Eric and wife, Britnee Jorgensen of Ankeny, Iowa, Karla Jorgensen of Norwalk, Iowa, and Kayla Jorgensen of West Des Moines; three grandchildren, Charlee, Jace, and Jack; and three brothers, Larry and wife, Christine Jorgensen, Leonard and wife, Patricia Jorgensen, and Lane and wife, Cindy Jorgensen, all of Sergeant Bluff.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Lance Jorgensen.
