Arlene Juanita Cameron Dames, 96, of Boone, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Eastern Star Masonic Home Chapel in Boone, with David Anderson officiating. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation with the family will be 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Boone. Online condolences may be left at www.schroederfuneral.com.

Arlene, the daughter of Charles Cameron and Martha Copenhaver Cameron, was born on April 15, 1921, in Correctionville, Iowa. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Sioux City Central High School in 1938.

Shortly after graduating, Arlene was united in marriage to Clifford Dames in Elk Point, S.D. They were the proud parents of three daughters, Patricia, Carole, and Carla. They made their home in Sioux City, where Arlene stayed busy raising their three daughters. She also worked for a time at Sears Roebuck Credit, and Marion Health Center in the business office. Arlene retired in 1983. She lived in Sioux City until 1996, when she moved to Boone.

Arlene loved reading, knitting, crocheting, and crossword puzzles. She especially loved to spend time with family.

She is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Thomas of Boone, Carole Weber of Red Oak, Iowa, and Carla (John) Glass of Ruckersville, Va.; seven grandchildren, Michael (Cindi) Thomas of Huxley, Iowa, Sean Weber of Red Oak, Damon Weber of Phoenix, Ariz., Kyle Weber of Red Oak, John (Maresa) Glass Jr. of Tampa, Fla., Cara (Mike) Eskstein of Olathe, Kan., and Tiffany (Ryan) Davies of New York City; 10 great-grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford in 1989; sons-in-law, Bill Thomas and Terry Weber; her grandson, Grant Glass; four brothers, LuVerne Cameron, Lawrence Cameron, Clarence Cameron, and Wood Cameron; and three sisters, Goldia Gates, Lorraine Wilmott, and Sylvia Cameron.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to be used at their discretion.
