Carroll P. Muff Sr., 93, of South Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at a local nursing facility.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in South Sioux City, with the Rev. Mike Keating as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with a vigil service beginning at 6 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Carroll was born on Dec. 30, 1923, in Norfolk, Neb., to Peter and Angela (Biedinger) Muff. He received his education in the Sioux City Catholic Schools, graduating from Trinity High School. Carroll also attended Morningside College. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the North African and European theatres, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

Carroll married Evelyn A. Hagberg on April 12, 1947, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, and was blessed with 61 years before her death in 2008. The couple spent most of their married years in Sioux City before moving to South Sioux City to be near their children.

Carroll worked in the furniture business for 20 years from 1949 until 1970, when he then founded Supreme Wood Products, Supreme Carriers, and Supreme Motors together with his sons. Carroll retired in 2012. He was a proud member of St. Michael’s Church in South Sioux City, and enjoyed his membership in the Knights of Columbus. Carroll enjoyed playing cards and boating in his younger years, and playing computer solitaire in his twilight years.

Surviving Carroll are his children, Carroll and Sandra Muff, Jr., Terry and Marilyn Muff, Steve and Connie Muff, and Nancy and Bob Giese, all of South Sioux City; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Carroll was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn; infant son; sister, Norma and her husband, John Kleinjan; brother, Ralph and his wife, Margaret; sister, Genevieve and her husband, John Kent; sister, Marcella and her husband, Lawrence Stork; and sister, Geraldine and her husband, Myrn Roberts.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons, Brian Muff, Eric Muff, Bryce Muff, Bob Giese Jr., Ben Giese, David Muff, and Tyler Muff. Honorary pallbearers will be the granddaughters, Haley Muff, Allison Berg, Season Rodgers, and Ashley Grier.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be offered to St. Michael’s Catholic Church in South Sioux City, or any Catholic school of the donor’s choice.
