Lucille Dyke, 92, of Sioux City, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 16, 2017, with her family by her side.

A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Sunnybrook Community Church, with the Rev. BJ Van Kalsbeek officiating. Interment will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Lucille was born on Feb. 26, 1925, the daughter of John and Lucy Koster, on a farm near Sheldon, Iowa. She was the youngest of 10 children. Her father, John Koster, arrived in the U.S. from the Netherlands with his family at the age of 8. Her mother, Lucy, was born in Hospers, Iowa, and they were both farmers. Lucille grew up on the farm and attended country school. When Lucille was just 7 years old, her mother passed away unexpectedly at the age of 49.

Lucille married Sherman Dyke on Oct. 30, 1946, in Jackson, Minn. Sherman was born on March 26, 1902, and passed away on Nov. 21, 1992. To this union two children were born, Sharon and Phillip. The family made their home in Sioux City. She was a homemaker, who enjoyed cooking and baking. She had the true gift of hospitality and she loved her Dutch heritage.

Lucille was a member of Sunnybrook Community Church, where she was active with MOPS for 20 years. Lucille's faith was very important to her and she spent much time praying for people and was a great blessing to them and her family. Lucille also spent many years as a senior companion.

Surviving Lucille are her children, Sharon (Dyke) and husband, Dan Burnight from Casselberry, Fla., and Phillip Dyke and wife, Lori from Omaha; grandchildren, Susanne Earnest and husband, Kevin Earnest from Winter Park, Fla., Andrew Burnight and wife, Patricia from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Nathan Dyke and wife, Anne and Paul Dyke, all from Omaha, and Elizabeth and her husband, Michael Criss of Sioux City; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sherman Dyke; and nine brothers and sisters.
