James "Jimmy" William Rapacki 1958 - 2017

James W. Rapacki, 58, of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017, after a sudden illness.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Friday at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave., with military rites conducted by the U.S. Air Force. Scattering of the ashes will be held at a later date in Chicopee, Mass. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

James "Jimmy" William Rapacki was born on Sept. 27, 1958, the son of John and Aranda Rapacki of Springfield, Mass. Jimmy served his country in the U.S. Air Force with Security Forces and Communications. A gentle giant, his life was one of simple means, preferring to read books as to the other pursuits of life. Jimmy spent most of his life as a cook in various restaurants.

Jimmy lived in Massachusetts for most of his life, primarily in the Chicopee area. He then moved to Powder Springs, Ga., and then eventually to Sioux City.

Survivors include a sister, Kathy Rapacki of Gainesville, Fla.; four brothers, David Fournier of Casselberry, Fla., John Fournier of Sioux City, Michael Rapacki of Rockford, Ill., and Daniel Rapacki of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents.
