Reba Lee Walston, of South Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at the Regency Square Nursing Home in South Sioux City.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave., in Sioux City, with the Rev. Carol Jean Stapleton officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Reba Lee Fike was born on Aug. 23, 1925, to Roscoe and Izetta Mae Fike, in Spirit Lake, Iowa, the youngest of six children. She graduated from Spirit Lake High School at the age of 16 in 1942, with honors. She was elected to membership in the National Honor Society in her junior and senior year.

Reba married Eldon E. Lenox on Sept. 2, 1944. To this union three children were born, Cathryn, 1945; Ned, 1947; and Jaci, 1948. They lived in Arnolds Park and Dickens, Iowa, from 1944 to 1959.

They moved to Le Mars, Iowa, in 1951 and remained until 1960. During this time, she worked for Kahout Cap Co. and was active as a leader in Girl and Boy Scouts and served as president of the Clark Elementary School PTA, and was Sunday School teacher. In 1960, the family moved to Storm Lake, Iowa, where Reba worked as an office manager for Dr. R. J. Potter and was a weekend hostess at the Ken-a-Bob Buffet from 1962 to 1972.

In 1972, Reba moved to South Sioux City to marry Dr. James H. Walston. Reba lived in South Sioux City until the time of her death. During her time in South Sioux, Reba was the northeast chairman for 31 counties of the Nebraska Heart Association, Dakota County chairperson of the Heart Fund Association and was awarded the Service to Mankind Award by the South Sioux City Sertoma Club. She was active in the Woodbury County Medical Auxiliary (Sioux Med-Dames) and served as secretary, president-elect and in 1982 as president. Reba was an avid Nebraska football fan and attended most home and away games until her health prevented her. Reba actively played tennis. So much so, they built their own tennis court to allow daily play. She was a mainstay in the local bridge club. To her delight, she won an annual, regional, points based competition where her name was engraved on a traveling trophy. She was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church and PEO Chapter CX. Reba was a partner in R & J Properties, where she managed 92 rental properties in addition to being office manager at the South Sioux Medical Center.

She is survived by Cathryn Becker (Lyle) of Yankton, S.D., Keith, Charleen, Casie and Fiona Lynch of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Greg Lynch of San Francisco, Calif., Kelly, Steve, Abby, and Baily Trautman, of Raymore, Mo., Ned Lenox of Marietta, Ga., Wade and Blake Lenox of Roswell, Ga., and Cara (Layla and Colin) of Marietta, Ga., Jaci (Gary) Ashmore of Lincoln, Neb., Matt Ashmore (Lori) Kenzie Virginia and Rissa Sydnee of Lincoln, Jennifer Byars (Ian), Jax Dylan and Knox Sidney of Nashville, Tenn.; stepchildren, Paula DeBoer (Merle) of Clairmont, Okla., and their four children, Mary Walston of Eugene, Ore., Lori Gillikson (Dave), and their four children of Beaverton, Ore., Jim Walston (Michelle) and their two children, and Susie Walston of West Linn, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and sister in infancy; brother, Duane Fike; sister, Neva Mae Koppen; sister, Alice Dell Jensen; and grandson, Sidney Allen Ashmore.
