Erwin R. Glew, 77, of Sioux City died of a sudden illness Saturday, March 21, 1998 in Sioux City.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Morningside Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kevin Lee and Pastor Donohue Sarff officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Christy, Smith & Hockenberry Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Glew was born August 22, 1920, in Delhi, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Estella (Miller) Glew.

He was raised on a farm in Delhi. He graduated from Delhi High School and attended the American Institute of Business in Omaha, Nebraska.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a yeoman first class during World War II.

He married Zada M. Wendt on June 30, 1948, in Delware, Iowa.

He was employed as a branch manager for Dadant and Sons Bee Supplies in Paris, Texas from 1949 to 1959. He came to Sioux City in 1959 and opened a branch of Dadant and Sons Bee Supplies, working until his retirement in January 1997.

He was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church. He was a commercial beekeeper and was active in many beekeeping organizations in the Midwest.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Barbara Kaufman and Beverly and her husband, Harlan Lessman, all of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Richard and Bonnie of Omaha, Nebraska; a brother, Donald of Sun City, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Bart, Sarah and Joshua Kaufman and Hob, Curt and Greg Lessman and 18 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lawrence and Leonard.

Pallbearers will be Bart, Sarah and Joshua Kaufman and Hob, Curt and Greg Lessman.

Memorials may be directed to Morningside Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
