Myrna M. (Greigg) Wendt, 72, of Sioux City died of emphysema Saturday, March 21, 1998 at her residence.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Paul Sieveking officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wendt was born May 12, 1925, in Ireton, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Hattie Greigg.

She moved to Hawarden, Iowa, graduating from Hawarden High School in 1942, she moved to Sioux City.

She married LeRoy “Bud” Wendt on December 23, 1946, in Sioux City. He died in 1980.

She owned and operated the Varsity Restaurant in Morningside for more than 30 years. Earlier, she managed the family restaurant, Greigg’s House of Hamburger. Through her restaurants, she had more than 40 years association with the students and faculty of Morningside College.

She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a sister, Helen Gehring of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a brother and his wife, Stanley L. and Cathryn Greigg of Washington D.C.; two sisters-in-law, Wavie and Arlene Greigg, both of Sioux City; four nieces and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert and William Greigg.
