William G. “Bill” “Bingo Bill” Thompson, 69, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Thursday March 19, 1998, at a local hospital.

Services will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael R. Ring of Glad Tidings Lighthouse officiating. The body will be cremated. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Thompson was born May 17, 1928, in Sioux City, the son of Henry G. and Verla (Rupe) Thompson. He was raised in Sioux City and had lived his entire life in Sioux City or South Sioux City. He was married to Mable Titus for several years. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He married Arlean M. Nicolls on December 13, 1952 in South Sioux City. She died July 23, 1995, in Sioux City. He had been a mechanic and operated his own garage. He was also a truck driver and heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1979. He managed the Autumn Park Apartments in South Sioux City for a few years. He was a member of Glad Tidings Lighthouse in South Sioux City.

Survivors include three daughters, Penny and her husband, Mike Bekish, Robin and her husband, Jeff Hass and Paullette Thompson all of Sioux City; four sons, Robert and his wife, Mary, Arnold and his wife, Sue, William G. Jr., and his wife, Crystal and Randy, all of Sioux City; 19 grandchildren, Chad, Willie, J.B., Rose, Beverly, Danny, Christopher, Amber, Andrew, Nicholas, Jodi, Cody, Dustina, Melissa, Travis, Shauntella, Chastity, Britny and Robert, and a brother, Paul and his wife, Shirley of Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
