Howes, Longtime Law Enforcement Officer Here, Dies

William Howes, a former longtime law enforcement officer here died Friday at his farm home near Worthington, Minnesota, Arthur Mummert, president of the Sioux City Policemen’s Burial Association, was informed.

Mr. Howes had been in failing health several months. He was a retired patrolman here and in January, 1943 he was named a deputy sheriff. He held that position until April 1946.

Survivors include the widow, Ella and two daughters.

The funeral services for William Howes, Worthington, Minnesota, a former deputy sheriff and a retired patrolman here, will be held at Worthington funeral home Tuesday.

There will be additional services at 3 o’clock Tuesday afternoon in the Merrill, Iowa cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Detective Arthur Mummert and Frank Edwards and Police Sgt. John Rispalje, Sheriff Edwin L. Lunde and Deputies George Grimesey and Carroll Reyman.
