Clifford A. Becker, 96, of Sergeant Bluff, died Friday, May 19, 2017, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Community United Methodist Church in Sergeant Bluff, with military rites provided by the U.S. Army. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to service time. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.

Clifford August Becker was born on April 10, 1921, in West Union, Iowa, the son of Earl and Mabel (Mittelstadt) Becker. Cliff entered the Army in 1942 and served in the European Theatre during World War II. On Oct. 31, 1952, Cliff was united in marriage to Dorothy Bartels at Strawberry Point, Iowa. Cliff worked at Iowa Steel and Iron Works until his retirement in the early 1980s.

Cliff was also a part-time roofer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being involved with the Boy Scouts of America. Cliff and his family also traveled with their camper from Iowa to Texas, Florida and Nebraska for many years. In 2004, Cliff and Dorothy moved to Sergeant Bluff.

He was a member of the Aircraft Recover Team for the Mid-America Air Museum and the Community United Methodist Church.

Cliff is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Leslie Becker of Lawtey, Fla., and John Becker of McMinnville, Ore.; two daughters, Ellen (Ron) Cosgrove of Huffman, Texas, and Ruth (Arlen) Dean of Dakota City, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Fern Carrillo and Ruth Gregory; and a daughter-in-law, Judy Becker.
